NEWS: a late start to 2012!

I've just returned to Exmouth after a fabulous two month visit with friends and family back in the USA.

My sister had a gorgeous baby boy, Beau, in December, and I was so happy to get to meet him right away and spend some time (not enough!) with them.

Now I'm back here, enjoying the summer (when I left the US it was -25c!!) and getting everything ready for a wonderful 2012 of photography.

I am again taking bookings for weddings and family, maternity, newborn & baby sessions. Please email me to check on availability for your date and to receive all of my new 2012 package offerings.

I've added a new product for this jolly season: personalized holiday photo cards. These can be customized to not only include your favourite photo from your session but you can create your own greeting, too!

Each single card can have its own image and greeting.

Ring me on 0438 433 356 or drop me an email to reserve your session time and to get the full scoop on all of the packages on offer.

Baby Aiden 23 days old - Exmouth newborn photography

Aiden is just the cutest and most active three week old bub I've ever seen. He insisted on staying awake for our entire session and didn't get grumpy at all (OK, he did once, but only for a tiny minute!) He seemed so interested in everything going on around him, his expressions were just adorable and so much fun to capture!

His mom & dad are pretty fantastic, too!

It was super windy on the day our session was scheduled and Renee & Paul really wanted some outdoor shots so we considered rescheduling. Instead we split their newborn portrait session into two parts - indoor and outdoor the following morning. Of course, it's Exmouth, so it was really windy the next morning, too, but we persevered and found a little patch that was at least partially protected from the southerly for Aiden's first beach trip.

He slept through the whole event.

Can't forget the canine members of the family! They are both so good around Aiden, totally excellent siblings.

Once again, I've fallen in love with the whole beautiful family!

Exmouth Family Portraits - Sunrise Beach Novotel Ningaloo

Headed down to the beach in front of the Novotel Ningaloo for some fun family portraits. You might remember the little girl, Sophie, from way back in 2009 when I did some portraits just of her while all the boys were at school or work. This time I got to enjoy spending time with the whole family and it was a blast!

We tried to be serious (how cute is this family!)

but it was far more fun to be goofy

and pull faces & cool poses

and get thrown around

Once the kids got a little tired, we let them play in the sand & chase seagulls while the grownups went for a more romantic look (these two are sooo much in love and it shows every second!)

Sophie only gave us a minute but was so adorable when she joined her parents who could complain?!

Exmouth Novotel Ningaloo wedding - sneak peek

Anna and Wayne got married at the Novotel Ningaloo in Exmouth on Thursday and I got to spend a couple of hours with four generations of Anna's family before the ceremony.

Some of my favourite wedding day moments happen during these "getting ready" times.

Sophie thought her mom was just the most beautiful mom ever and couldn't resist kisses as Anna's mom (YaYa) and grandma (also YaYa!) looked on.

Exmouth Family Portrait Session - sneak peek

I can't think of a better way to end 2010 than with one of my favourite families down at the beach!

A long, long time ago (OK, September 2009, but it seems like a long time ago!) I introduced you to Benjamin - then already an adorable rebel!

I'm here to tell you that he's staying true to his rebel status!

His super-great big brother Dylan did a fantastic job posing and helping with his little brother.

Exmouth Beach Family Portrait Session - sneak peek

I had an excellent time with the Wilson Family for their second portrait session (their first was way before my blog was going!) the other day.

B & Z had a great time burning off some energy running up and down the sand dunes!

My Grandmother

My Grandmother died yesterday.

I'm at a loss on what to say as a tribute as everything I try to put down seems awkward and incomplete and totally inadequate. The feelings are still too raw and too close to the surface for me to start sharing all the wonderful times we had, all the strength she gave to me and all the love I have in my heart for her. I'm holding those things close for now.

I loved her beyond measure and she was enormous part of my life. I will miss her terribly. Her passing leaves an huge hole in my life, my heart, my soul. She was such an incredible lady to me.

Her love and support and belief in me were some of the most powerful forces guiding me as I stumble along life's path.

She thought I was better than I am, stronger than I could ever be and kinder & more generous than I ever showed.

I aspire to make her proud and to be even half the person she saw.

I love you, Grandma.

California family portraits - sneak peek

At the end of September I made my way to the Bay Area for an excellent family portrait shoot at Muir Beach, north of San Francisco. We had a thick cloud layer hugging the coast that didn't burn off completely and I've decided that I kinda love shooting in those conditions - not very common in Exmouth, Western Australia, so I hope I get to do more photography sessions next time I'm back in the US!

Love this northern California backdrop for portraits!

Spirit Lake, Iowa - My Dad

Random shot of my Dad in the bobcat after clearing out more snow - no real reason for the photo, I just love him.

Baby Jacob - Newborn Session 21 days old

Noni was my first winner from my recent Newborn Photo Session contest and we set up the shoot for cutie Jacob just after they returned from Perth.  He was wide awake for pretty much the whole time but you could see he really did want to snooze - but he didn't want to miss out on anything, either!  I've never seen such a young bub be so interesting in his environment - it was wonderful...except that he was very grumpy whenever we'd try to move him or remove his pacifier!  Didn't matter, he was just so cute we still got a ton of shots that make us smile.

The Thinker

World's Quickest Nap Part I

Cheeky boy

World's Quickest Nap Part II

A little grump without his binkie - some mom loving helped, but ultimately, it was the binkie FTW

So very cute!

We'll be doing a Family Portrait Session in the next little while and I can't wait. Noni's sure that Jacob will sleep through the whole thing since that's what he was meant to do for this one.

Ryan, Kellie & Kirra - Family Portraits

I love this family - and not just because they are my own family!  They are not only totally gorgeous, but also the nicest and most fun-loving people you could hope for.  They came up to Exmouth for a bit of a holiday last week and arranged to take some time to do some family portraits as "all we have are shots from our cell phones!"  The weather didn't cooperate fully with us as it was very windy and the skies were mostly a flat, dull - if bright - grey during our sessions but we took advantage of momentary glimpses of blue sky whenever we could and definitely got some that are going to look awesome blown up and hung on the wall!

Kirra was far more interested in finding treasure in the sand than in having her photo taken

Ry & Kel considered their options

and tried a little interaction

before resorting to full on goofiness behind me while I tried to stop laughing long enough to take some photos of Kirra playing on the jetty

She's such a cutie!

All the excitement of the holiday and the beach were too much so it was time for a bit of a nap in the safety & calm of mom's arms
